Weight gain..... I have gained 7 lbs in a month after getting my implant. I walk 7 MILES A DAY. I have been eating a lot of comfort food, but it's what I am craving. I thought the walking would balance that out. Has anyone else had problems with weight gain post-surgery?

walking for one hour burns 200-300 calories. Don't know about you, but my favorite comfort foods are all full of starchy carbs, which means less than a fist sized serving is easily 200+ calories. It's common to gain when we are recovering. Even taking a good walk daily, you're probably still less active than usual. Once you get back to full activity and your regular diet, it should come right off. Have you tried using a tracker? I like myfitnesspal and sparkpeople. You can track your food and activity, see where you are and where you need to be.

Hi Laura, If the doctor says the weight gain is not from a physical problem you have to get away from the comfort food. Change your diet. All the exercise in the world will not help by itself. My PM was put in 6 months ago and I am a 73 year old male. 6'1 and I went from 226 to 198 in a few months by changing my diet. I eat fresh veggies and fruit.Baked chicken and fish. Yogurt and plenty of water. You just have to stop the comfort and fast food. I know it's not that easy but you can do it. Good Luck to you.

Since I got my pacemaker, I don't pass out anymore! That's a blessing in itself.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I did see the doctor and he said it wasn't due to the pacemaker. I guess I just have to stop eating. I got really sick last summer and lost 35 lbs. I had no appetite for months and it hurt to eat :( But now I feel better! and am eating more ;( I guess I need to quit bitchin' and push away from the table!
Oh, and stillwater3r, I HATE CHICKEN! LOL. I do love fish, but it's expensive to have very often. Like yogurt and drink tons of water. Maybe it's the chocolate....... Also I eat LOTS of salad. Love it. Probably too much dressing!
Best to all.....
