Hi everyone,
I am three weeks out from having a dual pacemaker installed. I feel great, except they have set it so my heart rate does not fall below 60. I am tired two hours after I get up. I am taking naps everyday, which I never did. My follow up with the PM manufacturer person is not for another month. Is anyone else experiencing fatigue?

Fatigue

thank you for taking the time to respond. I guess I am being impatient.... I really do feel blessed to have the device. My heart was actually stopping for 6-7 seconds during the night, and dropping into the 30's in the morning. Scary. I'm just not used to feeling so tired...The funny thing is, though, that I am able to walk further than I ever have. Again, thank you so much and best of luck to you as well!

Hi there, I have a pacemaker/icd also set to maintain 60 bpm. Have had it 6 years and just got a shiny new one because the battery was done. I have similar fatigue, but it is more related to the medical condition, and the drugs prescribed, than the pacemaker itself. I find the best way to fight the fatigue is exercise of a regular basis. e.g, walk around the block, etc
All the best, David
impatient is normal :)

Where's that magic wand when you need it?! Sounds like you are well on the road to recovery. You'll get there, odds are good you'll end up feeling better than ever.

It's normal to be tired the first month or two. It's a minor surgery, but it's still a shock to the body and it takes time to adjust. I napped a lot the first weeks, also. Don't fight it, if your body wants the rest, take a nap.
It may be that you feel better with your lower rate higher than 60, but they'll probably want to try you at 60 a few weeks longer.
