Horseback Riding

I have dual lead Medtronic 'bout 2 months, no problems. Anyone know if there is a problem with riding ?

Like you, I have a Metronic...almost 8 months now. At two months, I probably would not have been comfortable bouncing around on the back of a horse..but if you are healed enough by all means have fun! I went four wheeling back in August, over some of the roughest rocks imaginable up in the CO Rockies. No problems, and I was driving!

Doc told me -

Doc told me to hold off for over 90 days. Not horseback riding but working in a woodshop and doing heavy lifting. He was more concerned with my body incorporating the PM before I started doing any heavy work. After I pulled my leads a couple of times (it really hurts) I was more than willing to hold off for a while. As Dee224 said, at eight weeks I'd be pretty hesitant because the PM might get bounced around and really hurt.

We have other members on this forum who do horseback riding - maybe someone will chime in? Another thing you can do is to search the forum for horseback riding and see what posts pop up.

I seem to remember reading from another member on this forum they went with another rider just in case something would happen. I'm also thinking they did something to make sure that if the horse did spook, it couldn't stampede. I'm not a horsey person (even though I like them) so I'm not sure what was done.

Hope this helps.

Once you heal, go for it! I've ridden many times since I've been paced. One thing to keep in mind, if you use rate response the bouncing may confuse the pm and make your rate go up. It's harmless but feels weird if you aren't expecting it.

Hello!
Why do you have your PM? Can you walk fast? Can you run? If your doctor says yes, go for it. Have you felt any strange sensation while driving on a bumpy road? If yes, maybe that will be the same sensation you will feel while on horse. I would just be careful not to fall.

Enjoy life!
