Had PM replaced yesterday, Pain=11

Hi

I'm new here. I had my PM changed yesterday, and cannot move without agony. My first PM surgery was not this painful, and my doctor assures me I am NOT NORMAL.
He suggested I go to the ER for IV pain meds, and in same breath assured me he has never had This happen before, and it must be ME. The surgeon used glue over incision, and the burning sensation when I move, try to walk, etc, feels like I have been shot.

How can this be normal. Anyone else totally bed bound after PM replacement?

with a replacement. Had my initial installed in May.

If it is painful, you might want to check on some pain management....

Sorry you are having to go through this.

Poor you. Yes I had a lot of pain with my second one, I couldn't do anything, in the end they gave me a bottle of oramorph and after about day 5 it started to ease. I hope you feel better soon.

Possible infection

Someone with medical knowledge needs to physically look at your wound and site of surgery to ensure there is no infection.

Pain goes with inflammation. Inflammation may be caused by infection, allergy, mechanical trauma, chemical reaction etc.

You should certainly have sufficient pain relief, in this respect the amount of inflammation and response to painkillers is an individual thing.

Seek further help.

thank you so much!

Finally stood up, post op, alone for the first time.

I cannot fathom the defensive hoopla from the surgeon.

In fact, was thrown for such a loop.

We were suppose to drive to the lake house, day after surgery, and quickly realized that that was out of the question.

I took 30 mg of oxycontin and 500mg norco x4-5 throughout day.

Vomited from (painmed) re-bound head ache twice.

i am healing quickly now (hopefully) but the pain was unbearable. i actually wondered if he scooped me out with a rusty grapefruit spoon.

not normal

Not at all normal! Watch for signs of infection (new redness or swelling, streaking, oozing, fever). Could you be reacting to the glue? Try sparrow's ice advice, but I would want a professional to look at it. Hoping you are feeling better soon!

so-called "normal"...

Don't let the doctor tell you that you are "not normal," that sounds like complete bullshit. Your pain may not be TYPICAL or AVERAGE but that doesn't mean that you have done anything wrong. If anything, it probably means the doctor did something wrong! And everyone is different in how much pain they feel. Hope you feel better soon and let us know how it goes.

Its not you

This is not normal. I had no pain with my 2nd pacemaker. My doctor made me stay the night, the next day I wanted to be checked out because I was bored and wanted to get out. Why glue ? My skin would react too, very sensitive. Poor thing, I hope you feel better, but would go to the ER.
