Breast bruising after surgery

It's been 5 days since I had my PM implanted...recovery has been painful and slow. Reacted to pain medication in hospital so pain management has been limited.
I was surprised by the amount of bad brusing to my left breast.

Is this common for women after pm implantation.

Thanks.

I too had no bruising - at least that I could see. It might be because mine is implanted under a tattoo. I bruise very easily. The doc did say he took extra care with the incision and creating the pocket so he wouldn't destroy my tattoo. He must have been extra gentle!

I had no bruising at all, anywhere. Maybe it's a matter of how easily one bruises.

Or how stretchable your skin is--mine is very.

Bruises

I had a fairly large bruise on the front of my shoulder that lasted about a week. Also sore muscles behind my neck which puzzled me. I felt discomfort sleeping on my right side for 2 weeks and left side near PM for 3 weeks. After a month, they are all gone!

Good luck with your recovery!

The swelling

I had hardly any bruising, but swelling is a different story. I'm a week and a half post op and I am still fighting the swelling; it seems worse in the morning and evening. Lots of ibeprophen and alternating hot and cold have helped a little. Be patient with yourself, especially if you aren't taking a ton of pain meds.

I too was surprised at how bruised my left breast was and my side. Also took quite a while for the bruises to disappear. I guess they really can get aggressive in making the pocket for the PM.

breast bruising

I did have bad bruising on my breast too. It looked like the kind of bruises from being knocked rather than from the blood thinners. They were not painful tho. I wondered if the surgeon rested his arms while working! And it was at least 3 weeks before I could put on a bra that hooked in the back because my left shoulder was so sore. And I didn't wear my usual supportive bras for 5 weeks because my left breast and incision area were too tender to cram into one.
