It sounds like you need it.
What was the Drs. reasoning?

Wondering why it was removed rather than simply turning it way down or off first. Sure sounds like you needed it. How much were you pacing?

feeling weak after pacemaker out
by MichelleG - 2014-07-17 11:07:19
Thank you for all the comments on my question. To add a little more per request. The Dr stated that when the pacemaker was checked at my appt last month that the lead was failing and not functioning properly so he turned off the high pulse rate setting and only left the low setting to kick on because the battery life was almost completely drained from over use which he feels is because of malfunction and not nessecarily my heart using it. After we turned the high setting off and I went back a couple weeks later he stated the pacemaker never had to work during this period so he thought I could have it taken out. I was all for the pacemaker to be taken out, I mean if I dont NEED it then I dont want this foreign object in my body. I have been monitoring my pulse rate though out the day and I have been running from 40's to nothing higher then 60. I was thinking maybe when my pulse goes down to the 40's or even the 50's that it is draining my body because it's used to having the pacemaker kick in and now its not there. I just wanted to know if someone else had or heard about the same experience I am having. I just dont want the pacemaker if I dont need it.

Hi MichelLeG.
Although I do not have any physical health issues. However, because my average pulse is 38 bpm, I'm due to have a Pacemaker fitted next week. I'm interested in your reported issues and would appreciate it if you would please confirm, if in addition to the removal of the Pacemaker the Electrodes were also removed from your heart.
Your reply would be much appreciated.
Regards,
Nikolaus

Yes the pacemaker and thankfully the leads were taken out as well.
You know you're wired when...
You have an excuse for gaining an extra ounce or two.

But I think it will make me feel a lot better. My stamina to walk is already better, even right after surgery. They had me walk all around the floor before they would release me. I did so without being exhausted and winded the way I had been.

My guess is that you do need the pacemaker. Was there a reason why the doctors thought you didn't need it any more or was that your decision?
