Now I have new swelling over the pacemaker. Has anyone on here had to have a lead repositioned? Of course it had to be the Ventrical lead :( I spent last night in CCU/Telemetry and only slept maybe 2 -3 hours. When the surgeon came to my room this morning it was a bit of a shock to hear why he kept me overnight for observation. He said that I am much more sensitive than the average person and it seems that yesterday while he was operating... In the middle of the procedure, I moved my shoulder! Indicating that I could feel it and was in discomfort and . . . I did it more than once! Fortunately I don't remember that! Also while trying to reposition the lead, he said that my heart started to go a little nutso so he stopped to let it rest for a moment and then he tried again it and it flipped out again so he ended up removing the lead completely and then he let my heart just sit there and rest for maybe 10-15 minutes. He also told me that he was beginning to worry that he might not be able to place the lead at all but after allowing my heart to settle down he was able to reinsert it about 2-3 inches from the original position and so far so good. I'm just going to think positive thoughts and when he returns in two weeks, hopefully it will be only Good News :) The CCU nurse said I could come down and she would check the swelling - Yay! I don't have to go to the ER!

ER Again :( Painful breathing - Again!
by stormynw - 2014-05-19 04:05:24
Another night in the ER and I am NOT amused! So I was released from CCU Telemetry yesterday and all was good but I woke up in the middle of the night and the extremely painful breathing woke me up over and over. I tried to sleep it off and finally around 1:30 pm got up but the pain would not go away so I headed back down to the ER. They did a D-Dimer test and just to make sure there wasn't a blood clot in my lungs they did a CT w/contrast. But after sitting in the ER for over 4 hours the Dr walks in and says there aren't any blood clots I can go home. When I asked about the pain the ER Doc said well you have pain medication... REALLY? I took it before I went in and they gave me a dose while I was there (because of the pacemaker work on Thursday) and it doesn't touch it. Besides I'm not looking to take more pain meds I am SOOOOO Frustrated! It really hurts to breathe. Well I'm off to bed and hoping tonights better than last night although I don't expect it to be because the pain is worse when I bend over or I'm lying down.
You know you're wired when...
