Back to Skydiving!

I've just been signed off as ok to get back to skydiving! 10 weeks post-op.

Understandably, I suppose, my GP wasn't happy signing off with limited specialist knowledge, so I had to go back to a consultant (privately - not NHS. I'm in the UK). But he's now said there's no reason to seek any further specialist referrals for this in the future as long as the regular clinic checks are fine.

The only potential issue comes from direct trauma from the harness over the PM site. I'm sub-pectoral anyway, but will just check if I need some extra padding before I try anything - just in case.

Hope I haven't missed the British summer....

This now means that pretty much the only thing I can't do as before is blood (or rather platelet) donation - where they originally picked up my slow irregular heart beat during pre-donation screening. The UK has a blanket ban on PM wearers donating :(

When you have a PM check it will be fascinating to see what your HR was doing while you were plummeting towards earth !

I think you need a psychiatrist rather than a cardiologist, but whatever turns you on !

I didn't realise that , here in the UK , my PM prevents me from being a blood donor. I challenge anyone to find any logic in that policy !

Funny thing happened last time I went to donate, well not actually funny but...

I went to the blood drive to donate approx. 4 1/2 months post PM, in the question sheet it asked about Heart issues. I answered yes, the screener asked what I said a PM 4 1/2 months ago, she said can not donate till 6 months post-surgery.
I said, "Funny you should say that, I donated 60 days ago HERE.. That caused a big to-do trying to find out who on their end did not follow procedure. I was assured it was just a safety thing for any one 6 months after surgery..Looks like I wait another month to give again I am just over 9 gallons….

Glad you are back Sky Diving

Have fun !

....to your life again.

Have fun.

Also it's good (in that the US isn't the only one) to hear that rules are made without concern for common sense in other countries too.

You know you're wired when...

You get your device tuned-up for hot dates.

I'm 35 and got my pacemaker a little over a year ago. It definitely is not a burden to me. In fact, I have more energy (which my husband enjoys), can do more things with my kids and have weight because of having the energy.
