Just looking for some advice.....again!! I'm 5 weeks post op with 1st pacemaker and I'm feeling really good. Everything seems to be going really well except a tiny little bit of my wound has become very red and uncomfortable. It's only the very tail end of the wound so I don't want to run to my GP but I'm a little anxious as I've taken a couple of sweats today. Any one else had experience of this... Feels a little hot and itchy but just a tiny part of the wound. Just started exercising again and have been putting it down to that...think I mite have irritated it. Any thoughts? All help gratefully received :) thanks in advance

stitches

It can do that if a little piece of a suture is left. Do you have a fever? If you do, that needs to be seen asap. Watch for fever, also oozing or additional redness, esp streaking. Unlikely it's related to exercise.
Getting checked

Thank you all so much for taking the time to reply...I am going to get checked out at 4 pm at our out of hours centre. I was just afraid of being told I was worrying over nothing I suppose. Still irritated this morning and red...but dry. I'll let you know the verdict later and thank you again. I value the advice and support from all of you. Dawn

Did you not read what TracieE. wrote?? She said" Do you have a fever? If you do, that needs to be seen asap"
You said my fever spikes on and off. If its no better I'll go in on Tues. Sounds like your going to let the infection(if that's what it is) get a good start!! I know its a holiday weekend but infection doesn't care it grows anyway. We are concerned about you!! Take care of yourself!! If you have a fever go to ER, let them find out what is going on. Please Jean
Update

Sorry for the delay in updating but it has been a crazy couple of days. My daughter had a motorcycle accident while working in Italy so getting her back to uk for surgery took over.
I went and got myself checked out and I am so glad I did!!
A suture had partially dissolved and left a very jagged edge cutting into the wound!!
It has been removed, cleaned and dressed and I go back on Tuesday for another check. It could so easily have turned very nasty apparently...so I am very glad I took your advice and went.
It looks like I have avoided infection by catching it quickly..thank you all so much for your advice.
The moral to this story is if it doesn't look or feel right....it probably isn't!!
Thanks again.....lesson learned!
Getting there

Well....things are moving in the right direction :) my daughter is preparing to go back to Italy after having her broken collar bone stabilised. All is good :)
I have had more checks on my scar that is struggling to heal in just one area.
Apparently my pm is quite close to the surface of my skin and protrudes a little...this is no biggie...I can live with that.
The problem is that it is preventing the wound from healing completely....friction and pressure from inside.
If it hasn't settled within another 4 months max they will look at re positioning the pm.
On a positive note..there is no infection :)
Has anyone heard of this happening before? You can feel and see the bulge that is digging into the scar.
Again on a positive note...life is amazing with a pm. I managed a 5k race last week for charity and have increased to 2 sessions a week at the gym and 1 session in the dojo......I'm just loving living again.
Thanks so much for all the support here...it's amazing. Dawn

Cheers for that TraceyE....there is a little tail end of a suture poking out of the wound. It's not oozing but very red and warm. I find it difficult to know what is normal at the minute. My fever spikes on and off but I do feel fine generally. If it's no better on Tuesday (mon is bank hol) I'll go and see my GP. Thanks again
