Hello.
I am a 26-year old man from Norway. I currently have my pacemaker placed under the skin. Today i was going to get an operation, to place my pacemaker under the chest-muscle, and i have been looking forward to this moment for two long years. In the last minutes though, my doctors and surgeons refused to do it, because it is too dangerous and so on. As i understood them, i was not going to get this operation anywhere in Norway, but they said that if i was still sure of doing this, there were places abroad that did it. So i then wondered if anyone have any suggestions for good and safe places for doing this operation. Primarily in the Nordic countries, then rest of Europe, and also America is a possibility. Would really appreciate some answers, as i am "desperat" of doing this.
Thanks:)

Burying PM

Just a thought. You might be better sourcing someone who also does children's PM's as they will have more experience with implanting under the muscle.

burying it

No suggestions where to go, but many of us have it buried and it's not at all dangerous. It's much more common than it used to be. When I had mine done that way in 1994, my surgeon only read about two other cases and he was basically making it up as he went along. But he did it and I was fine! Perhaps talk to a plastic surgeon? This is a big and unusual job for a heart surgeon, probably the easiest job of the day for a plastic surgeon. Can't hurt to ask before you travel!
