New pm

I finally had my pm fitted yesterday and apart from being in a fair bit of pain I feel ok.
Just one question though, since I got home today I've felt my pm pace a few times and I just wondered if it was normal.
The great thing about it is I don't feel dizzy or sick and after years of those symptoms it's going to take a bit of getting used to!

Glad everything went well for you. You shouldn't feel the PM pace but sometimes you can develop a fast heart rate from the implant but within a couple weeks should settle down. Be sure to keep an ice pack on it every once in a while will help with pain. If they gave you a sling only use it at night while you sleep and only for a few days. Keeping your arm in a sling can cause frozen shoulder and you don't want that. Do be careful on movement for at least a week you want to use the arm but not lift it above shoulder and don't lift anything with the arm for a few days. I did fine with just ibuprofen for the pain. So glad you are feeling better. And I noticed too that as soon as I got my PM no more dizziness or walking around like I was half drunk ( I don't drink). Keep us posted on your progress

I Still Feel Mine

I don't know what the difference is from person to person, like kmom and me but I definitely feel my PM "on the job" most of the time. At the very beginning, it was as though my heart was literally flopping in my chest. I went in and they adjusted it. No more flopping but I still definitely feel it. I'm wondering if I feel it more in the ventricle than the atrium or vice versa, which could be the difference. I am happy and I definitely notice when I am NOT feeling my PM. It's good to feel just "regular" if you know what I mean.

Be sure to give yourself a few weeks for recovery. Hopefully, you'll feel it less and less if you do!

Great

Glad you feel better. Keep on top of antibiotics and watch for unusual symptoms. Do not be afraid to ask for a sooner appointment with doctor if you feel you need it. Once you are healed they will turn on all the whistles and bells of your new pacemaker.

Make a list for your doctor and pacemaker rep of things you want to do but seem limited . List always seem to help because once you get home you realize I should have asked that.

Have fun and take it easy for a few weeks.
