I am scheduled for a cardio appt. tomorrow morning, my doctor said that he will determine then if I need a defibrillator installed. I suffered an SCA on 02/06/14 due to 100% blockage in aorta had 4 stents put in and pacemaker installed. I am taking Coreg, Plavix, losartin and atvostatin. I have been thru cardio rehab and am back to work full time.Should I be worried? My girlfriend is terrified that I will have to go into surgery again. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I finished 29th in London in 2 hours 20 minutes 30 seconds which is my fastest with or without a device so clearly it didnt slow me down ! I had no problems apart from some slight chaffing on my scar - more Vaseline next time.
No problem!

Jim,
I am 35 I had a heart attack on 2008 and put a stent. On March of this year I had fast heart beating event... tachycardia. I did an electrophisiology study and discover I have Ventricular Tachycardia due a scar of my heart attack of 2008. So they decided to implant an ICD. I was reading about it... and definitely its the best thing to do when you have a scar in the heart. I think you case its the same? Dont worry the ICD just is going to give you benefits. We, who already have heart attack, have severe chance to have an Ventricular Tachycardia and ICD is going to protect you if its happens or dont let even happens.
