Pacemaker bandage

Recently had a pacemaker replacement (leads were ok). I was instructed to leave the sealed-by-tape bandage on for a week and no showers for a week. The sealed bandage is still on after 4 days but shouldn't the bandage be changed? Also, is there a way to shower w/o getting the site wet?

I had a new generator replaced 2 weeks ago and have 2 different incision sites. My instructions were don't get them wet for 48h then take showers carefully with no direct water on them and absolutely no soaking water. Do you have actual dressing or steri-strips? Because I have steri-strips and those suckers wont come off after 7+ showers.

The drugstore does sell protective bandages that cover the site, i was allowed to use them, but i suggest you ask your doctor. Hope this was helpful :)

Mine stayed on for a week, if we have the same thing they told me the bandage was treated with mercury to protect from infection. When I saw the cardio a week later for follow up they removed it. I think its just a different way of doing things now

Showering

Last week I had an ICD device change and a new lead. They told me a Birmingham QE hospital that I should shower with the dressing on whilst washing my hair/face etc, then remove the dressing and let water onto the would site. Once done, carefully pat the wound area dry and apply another new dressing. All this must be done whilst refraining from lifting up the arm too high which might stretch the skin or pull the wires as they are still healing. I have followed this and everything appears fine.

I was glued shut

Mydoctor used glue, and I had not external stitches. He ripped it off in the hospital, and said not hot tubs for a week. I put a band aid and neosporine on it as soon as he left
