Singing in my head

Hi all. My mom recently had a pacemaker out in and has been hearing opera music off and on ever since. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

No I haven't. Is your mom a member here? How long has she had her pacemaker.

Not enough information but will take a stab at it.

Pacemaker and not an ICD? Either way go and get it checked.

ICDs are designed to alarm at certain times to alert the person to have their device checked as there might be a fault, or a persons fluid levels are too high, or battery is getting low, or therapy was aborted. Basically there are many reasons and an interrogation by a qualified pacing technician will give the answer.

Most pacemakers don't make noises. The St Jude company does however make a pacemaker that sounds an alarm if something is incorrect. Again get it checked.

Remember to note when the opera music happens. There should be a pattern to it. ie every morning at 8am.

Also it is not uncommon for people to discover that it is the alarm clock or something similar to this. One person thought theirs was going off at 8am every morning then discovered it was the next door neighbours alarm clock.

However best and safest thing to do is get the device checked.
