I just had pacemaker surgery on February 20th 2014. When my doctor who did the surgery came into my hospital room, she said that I must have been moving my left arm because the lead that was placed in the upper heart chamber, lost it's slack and their is just a short lead. Although, she said it is working properly and that I cannot move my arm hardly at all and to be very careful so the lead does not come out from me moving too much. I am vey worried about this cause I do not want to go through that surgery again. When I was in the OR just before my surgery, my blood pressure was 167 over 110 and I was literally shaking and the anesthesiologist said well we will take care of that. I told them that I did not what to be put totally asleep and that I want to be sedated somewhat since I am having a local. I started to feel very strange and I thought I was going to blackout. The anesthesiologist said we won't let that happen. I don't remember anything after that and I opened my eyes and the nurse said " we are all done". Oh man thank God literally cause I was really freaked out in the OR. Has anyone had a similar experience?

You know you're wired when...
Your pacemaker receives radio frequencies.

I wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for pacemakers. I've had mine for 35+ years. I was fainting all of the time and had flat-lined also. I feel very blessed to live in this time of technology.
Loss of control

The feeling of losing control is very frightening.
However, as the anesthesiologist said, they can take care of that. There are some fantastic drugs out there that can take care of a lot of problems and make you feel good at the same time - and they are legal.
Don't know what to tell you about the short lead. I'll let others chime in on that.
Like I said, the loss of control is very frightening. Unfortunately, since you have heart disease and a PM, you'll find out there are times when you aren't in control and will be forced to rely upon others. Do I like losing control? No, but it's gonna happen.
I was walking down the trail, not a care in the world, passed out, woke up six days later. Talk about loss of control ! If it wasn't for all the people who took care of me for the six days I was unconscious, I wouldn't be able to write this message.
There are a lot of people out there who try to do their best every day, try to give you the best care possible, and take their work very seriously. It's hard, but you've got to learn to trust them.
