Walking

Hi folks. I am five days into a Medtronic, two wire pacemaker. Feeling great. Behaving myself. on third day I walked for 11 minutes; next day, 20 minutes; third day, 35 minutes. Brisk walking...no more than that. Feedback from doc and others at hospital was that walking is OK, perhaps encouraged. My lovely wife is not an exercise maven. I am. So, naturally, she is concerned.

Question: is there anyone who thinks that vigorous walking, 4 miles an hour pace, is anything but beneficial.

Thanks in advance for even a one word response.

Jack

Walking

With your doctors blessing this is great. But perhaps if you slowed your pace just a bit your lovely wife would join you? You could always do another few miles at your faster pace by yourself later.

Do it

as long as you feel good, just do it!

Though I agree with Boston that getting your wife to join you would be great.

I fully agree with the wife comment. Asked hurt o do so. But, she said that she got her exercise cleaning today. I'll try again tomorrow. Couldn't agree more.

I'm 10 days into my Medtronic double chamber PM. I need to unleash my arm from the sling and get out and start doing some walking myself. Glad all is going well for you.

Keep it up, if it feels good and is approved by all.

Hope I can so as much as you, I know the wife will have me out as soon as the doctor okay's it.

Again great job.

Walking is good

Walking is good. If you can reach the 4mph that is good too. However, if your PM site gets sore or sensitive, you'll have to back off. If you get any pulling on straining in the PM area you'll have to back off.

I'd hold off pushing it until after the 4 to 6 week period. Give your body time to grow around the PM and the leads. Then go full speed ahead.

You don't want to push it and cause a problem you'll have to live with until the battery wears down. Messing up now and paying for it for years isn't a good trade off.

Otherwise, keep up the good work!

Just do it

With or without your wife just go for it, but I'd play the old soldier when it comes to house work. I have walked a lot since my PM 6 months ago and found it great.Best of luck, John

You know you're wired when...

You play MP3 files on your pacer.
