Trying to lose

Before I had to have the pm I was on a great health path. I had lost over 20lbs and 2" off my waist. I put on weight fast during my recovery and it has been tough to get it back off. I run 2-3 times a week 3-4 miles and do aerobic the other days to save the joints from too much torture.
Here's the weird part. My issue was a very low HR (27 sleeping) and it got up nicely when I exercised. I feel like even though it doesn't drop below 60 now I can't seem to get it over 140 working out. I'd like to drop 20 lbs, but I feel like my metabolism is fighting me.
I studied nutrition in college, I'm a chef, I was vegetarian for over a decade (not going to go back) so I know how to eat. I work out and I'll admit I like a few drinks when appropriate. My cardiologist mentioned with a smile that perhaps the pm would boost my metabolism. Is it possible that the opposite has happened? I don't think I could give up any more calories or the few things I allow myself to eat. Anyone experience anything similar?

Thanks.

What meds are you on?

What meds are you on? You didn't say. That can have an impact on weight loss.

Are you running and then sitting? Any other exercise?

What are calories in against exercise out?

And yes, as you get older, your metabolism is fighting you.

I've been able to hold my weight post PM but it's mostly by using my arms to push myself away from the table. Then not taking any snacks between meals.

Hope you can get your weight down.

I suppose it is just age slowing me down. I only take 5mg of Norvasc so I doubt that is it. Thanks for the response. I'm going to track my calories for a few weeks to see if I'm taking in too much. I doubt I'm eating over 1600, but that could be it. Getting older stinks.
