Having a pace-maker fitted must alter your taste buds, because I actually enjoyed eating the hospital food.

Weird flavors

Depending upon the trauma and the meds you were on it can greatly affect taste and smell. I was on Propofol for six days. In addition to hallucinations it greatly affected taste and smell.
I was in step down and was served lunch. Whatever it was smelled like they had gone out into the parking lot and scraped something off the pavement. Taste wasn't any better. I'd also get some really weird tastes in my mouth as the Propofol worked out of my system.
I haven't had any problems with regular heart meds, but it can happen.
Hope things get better for you.
