Hi Forum,
I had my PM on 30/12/2013 I am 45, and though it took me a bit of a while to get my head round it, I think I have got there now. I have started running / jogging.
Because I used to be quite muscular for years of gym, (I stopped a few years back), I have larger pectoral muscles.
When I run, i can feel my Pec's 'bouncing', which I think is normal anyway. Now I have the PM fitted, I am wondering what effect this will have on the leads. I have put my hand on the PM while running and though the muscle is moving / bouncing the PM seems to be quite still'ish.
Do I have to be careful when running, How can the PC be fairly still and the muscle be moving, I thought the PM was fixed to the pec muscle.

Running

Graham just run and forget about the pm. Focus on breathing, pace, nature, traffic, your playlist, hydration, form, stride or any of the other things we obsess over. Your pm will not fall out. By now your leads are firmly attached. I went for a run the same day I had my implant, those CCU hospital corridors were annoying flat and unchallenging but hey, any port in a storm.
Happy running!
Forget about the PM

Hi Graham
Boston gives you good advice. The casing of the PM has slots and it is stitched through those slots to hold it in place so it is highly unlikely to move.
There is a cavity between the pecs and your collar bone where the PM should fit quite comfortably
You must look slightly strange with your hand on it while you run so do forget about your new titanium friend !
( I have done the Reading half marathon a few times as a training run for the London ; have you ever done that one ? )
Cheers
Ian
Keep running

I remember the nurse in the cardio lab telling me after my implant that it's amazing how the body structure seems to be designed for a PM implant. Though they do have to make a pocket for it. There is a natural space between the muscles and bones.
Anyway, glad to hear that you're getting back to your normal activities. Keep it up.

Just keep going

Graham,
Everything you did before you can do now. Pecs have nothing to do with how you can handle your PM. I have pretty good pecs from weight lifting and it was kind of funny when I was being prepped for the implant the nurse even said, boy you have some muscle there.
In the summer I do a lot of jet skiing and if you want to talk about bouncing that will do it. No problem though.
Just relax and enjoy your new friend.

..................any runner,..or indeed, any Cardio Vas member.....this Forum is awash with sportspeople looking at how they might maintain their own aspirations and goals..and indeed,..surpass them..
There just is not any Golden Rule...
You just get out there and do your stuff and listen to your body.....
I have, but a little clue what that means..
We will all die...so,...maybe,..just get out there and
Do It..as in..what NIKE advises..
