An Invitation

Hi everyone:

I would like to extend an invitation. I belong to HEART, a free social support community for runners who have been through major cardiac events and interventions. We have a mix of pacer, valve, CABG and other types of heart patients. Our members generally participate in multiple support forums, but ours is different from many in that we also organize "in-person" group meetings for members around running events.

It's very informal - we typically meet at restaurants, and run as members of a relay team or as solo participants.

We have couple of upcoming events scheduled in Cincinnati, OH and Grand Rapids, MI that you might be interested in.

The Cincinnati event is particularly cool because of its "Red Cap" division that recognizes heart patients and stroke survivors, and has a complimentary VIP reception after the race for all of the Red Cappers (and one guest each, if you are accompanied by friend or family member).

Are there any of these groups near the Indianapolis area? Sounds like fun!

Grand Rapids and Cincinnati are as close as we've come to Indianapolis so far. We'd like to expand the group so that we can start to have more frequent events in more locations. The events we've had so far have involved overnight travel for most participants. We typically spend Saturday afternoon and early evening socializing, then run on Sunday.

Might be doable. I'm neither a good nor a fast runner. I just love running and am very impatient for this torn ligament to heal so I can jump back in.
