Battery life rvdr01

Does anyone know the battery life for medtronic rvdr01 pacemaker. I have complete heart block and fully dependent.

report. It gives an estimate of battery life for your PM based on what your PM is doing. You should have gotten a copy when they did a PM check.

Battery life does not only depend on how much you pace. More important is the amplitude (voltage) at which you pace, so the energy needed to stimulate your heart effectively. You can, like me, pace 100% in the atria and ventricles, and still get 10-12 years out of the battery due to a low voltage needed; or you pace 100% or less in the ventricle but with a high voltage, and probably get only 8 years out of it. Threshold and amplitude can change over years. It's really difficult to estimate how long a battery will last because in addition to your pacing percentage and the voltage, certain features can also drain the battery. For instance, home monitoring activated needs battery (in my pacer it is estimated to use 2%, if switched on), so do automatic features like automatic threshold testing or automatic capture.

I'm sure you can find an estimate of your Medtronic Revo's battery life in the manual, but this will be based on certain pacing percentages and amplitudes, too. If yours differ from that, the estimate will not apply. However, one can probably say that generally today's pacemakers usually give you 8 - 12 years of battery life - some a bit more, some a bit less.
