Hartford CT O/Max ST Paddy's day RR
Pacemaker 2-24-14. This is my first run/race after passing out 11-24-13 it felt good to hit the roads again with the wife at my side. 34 flat, chip time for 5K. Not bad for no training/running in over 3 months and putting on 15-20LBS, which i have no excuse for... we signed up for a 10K 6-1..life is good

I'm really impressed and inspired by your quick recovery and jumping right back in to your return. I use to run 6 miles a day 6 days a week and even ran a 1/2 marathon. Since my surgery I have not done anything to try and jump back in. I've put on 20lbs of weight and been pretty much sedentary. My surgery was on Feb-06,2014 with the medtronic dual chamber PM. My hesitation has been due to having this surgery done twice in one month. My first PM was in Jan the Feb re-position of dislodged lead. I know once I get mentally past this I will relax and start enjoying these things again. Thanks for your post, it's really encouraging.
Yup, it can be done !!............

...........................34 for an off the cuff 5k is just fine and is just the stuff that ' bmccasland ' needs to read.
' bm'.....I did my first 10k twelve weeks after open heart surgery for a new aortic valve..first Half at six months...
I just know that, when the time is right , you will be out there, pounding the pavement
Best wishes to all PM Runners out there...its not too late for a New Years Resolution...

A pacemaker completely solved my problem. In fact, it was implanted just 7 weeks ago and I ran a race today, placed first in my age group.
Fantastic!

That is really great news! I am happy to hear you are doing so well! It does feel good to get out and start doing the things we did before our PM surgery and get our lives back! I hope things continue to go well for you!
