I have a Medtronic Pacemaker Model ADDR01 and wonder if anyone can tell me what the pacemaker output electrical frequency is? I am interested in purchasing a polar FT7 heart rate monitor to keep track of heart rate when exercising and understand that the pacemaker output may interfere with the polar monitor.
Thanks,
Bob H

interference

Some people can use them, some cannot. The only way I know to find out for sure is get one and try it. I don't think knowing the frequency will help.
Polar Heart Rate Monitor

Bob,
I use a FT40 almost everyday and it works well for me with no interference. As a matter of fact, the monitor is the thing that helped me isolate my intermittent alternating infra Hissian bundle branch block, (my heart rate monitor dropped to 0 at elevated heart rates). I do not exercise without it, and strongly recommend always exercise with one.
I have an older F11 and it works well with the pacemaker, I have a VEDR01 dual chamber IPG.
Cheers,
Ron
Polar FT7

I have a Medtronic A3DR01 PM and use a Polar FT7 heart rate monitor every day with no problems at all. I have verified the HR shown on the FT7 against a pulse oximeter and the readings agree (pulse oximeter measures HR from bloodflow under the nail rather than electrical impulses as the Polar does). Not very practical to work out with a pulse oximeter though as it is bulky and easily disturbed on your finger.
I have had the Polar FT7 around a year now and the average workout HR before and after PM implant also agree. The signal coming from the Polar chest strap are evidently coded and the wristwatch reads only the correctly coded signal from its chest strap. Polar tell me they do this so those who work out in gyms do not have their HR monitor interfere with a neighbouring HR monitors and vice versa.

I have a Garmin Forerunner 210 that I had pre PM and have had a lot of trouble with it, the readings are unreliable after several calls to the web site support #'s and trying everything I could from numerous suggestions. I finally gave up and ordered a Polar FT7 based on info I gathered from this site. I am anxiously awaiting its arrival. I will post on this thread after I use it for about a week. Good luck to all
PS: I have never been able to get a reasonably accurate reading manually when running by the time I find it and try counting its already dropping, maybe just a clumsy ol fart ,,take care
Strapless model works well

I recently bought a MIO Alpha 1 strapless monitor from Amazon. It is working well. It is a bit pricy, $149 on Amazon (versus $199 on the MIO web site).
I had a Polar FT7 for years but the battery cover on the back of the transmitter was very tough to take off without damaging the slot.
I decided to try out the strapless MIO and really like it. It has a rechargeable battery that connects via USB to computers.

I also have an ADDR01 from Medtronics. I rang them to find out about any interference that may be experienced by using a chest strap Bluetooth LE HRM whilst cycling.
They were very helpful to the point that they rang my cardiologist for me to determine my current level of dependency on the pacemaker. The only stipulation from them so far is that the HRM must be more than 15cms (6ins) from the device.
Based on this advise, and to be on the safe side, I am now considering a wrist watch type device. I want whatever I buy to pair with my Galaxy S4 Android smart phone & pass the data to Strava, which is my fitness app.
Am I being over cautious regards the chest strap HRM? Is there anyone out there who uses a wrist watch type device?
Appreciate any constructive comments please
FT7 works for me

My FT7 will sometimes show 0 bpm when I feel my PM begin pacing me during running. This 0 display is only for about 5 seconds or less, then it returns to the heart rate bpm displayed at the point my PM began pacing. Most of the time, my FT7 maintains a constant accurate HR display the entire run- before, during , and after PM pacing.
My Garmin Forerunner 305 mostly displays blanks and very inconsistent bpm during PM pacing.
I like using the Polar FT7 much more than my Garmin since I got a PM.
You know you're wired when...
You play MP3 files on your pacer.

I wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for pacemakers. I've had mine for 35+ years. I was fainting all of the time and had flat-lined also. I feel very blessed to live in this time of technology.
