Hi,
I had my pacemaker on the 2nd January this year, my scar is still quite painful, and the area where the battery is, is also quite sore.
I just want to know if this is normal? I have been back at the gym now for almost 4 weeks, I am doing weights, but nothing that causes pain.
Thanks,
Amy.

Hi,
I've been checking for any sign of infection, and all looks ok!
Wasn't aware of the massage, but I'll definitely give it a go, so thank you :) it does often get painful around the scar, so this could massively help.
Thanks again,
Amy.

How long it takes to fully heal varies, 6 weeks or so is average but I've heard of it taking up to a year. As long as the incision looks good, no new redness, oozing, swelling or anything like that, it sounds normal to me. Watch out for changes or new soreness, that needs to be checked out.

I don't want to be the sound of doom, but at 6 months I cannot touch the area. I am certain there is nerve damage but my cardiologist will never admit it. I hope your recovery is quicker!

Have you been gently massaging your scar to minimize scar tissue build up? That could be contributing to the pain by pinching nerves. It's never too late to start.
