Is it safe to use a Ultrasonic Facial Device with a pacemaker?

Good question

It doesn't look like the machinery will generate enough of a magnetic field to interfere with the PM operation. However, the effects of ultrasonic waves on your body, plus your heart medications, plus the PM? Don't know what effects that will have.

Based upon the dearth of answers to your posting, doesn't look like anyone else on the forum has any answers either.

Another option would be to talk to your PM manufacturer. They may have done some testing with PM's and can give you an answer.

I know they tell us not to use 10's equipment. But that joke-of-a-step-down-unit I was stuck in used 10's equipment on me with no noticeable effects. But just the same, just because I got away with it once doesn't mean I'd get away with it again. So I stay away from the 10's equipment.

Like I said, I'd check with your PM manufacturer and see what they say.

It Could

Hi pbrasher,

Which one is it? There are a couple of brands of facial exercisers that I took in for my cardio doc to look at (Dermal Tone & NuSkin Galvanic Spa). I used both of these off and on prior to my PM for years. He said no to both, and explained that the pulses could confuse the PM and make a change in the pacing rate, or cause the PM to think the heart is beating on it's own and not pace (I'm 100% dependent/paced).

Both of these devices use a different type of electrical/galvanic impulse/charge. He also said to watch out for the ultrasonic devices as well, because sometimes they can cause problems too. My PM manufacturer agreed, do not use the two I asked about, whether you're 100% dependent or not. I did not ask about any others though.

I'm not sure if your doctor or PM manufacturer would agree, but I'd check with both to see what they say.

Good luck, and let me know if there is something you find that's okay to use. I'd like to try it too!

You know you're wired when...

You play MP3 files on your pacer.

It's much better to live with a pacemaker than to risk your life without one.
