I am now two months post implant and went to the cardio on Thursday for a PM check. I have been having some problems while exercising both with rate increase with sudden rate drops. I gathered from the sage postings in this forum that my problem was related to the settings of my PM.
The Medtronic technician did all the tests and told me that it was apparent my maximum rate was set too low and despite my SSS, rate response was turned off. My cardio agreed to let the tech up my maximum rate to 150 and turn the rate response function on and tweak such other settings as he saw fit.
I flew home yesterday afternoon and did my first workout with the new settings this morning. I cannot believe the difference the changes of settings have made! My heart rate was in the fitness zone within 5 minutes (as it should be) and maintained the rate for the entire workout without any threat of sudden rate drop as I was used to getting after ±30 minutes. I felt great after my PM implant but the tweaking of my settings has now made me feel even better.
This has certainly taught me to go and get things checked out by the experts when it happens rather than wait until it may be more convenient to make a trip to the big city.
I really appreciate the help and support of all of you out there.

Thanks for the info. Glad it was an easy fix. I'll keep this in the back of my mind for when I'm in rehab.
I did a lot of hiking and want to get back. So if I start having problems I'll remember what you said.
Thanks again. Hang in there!

I'm glad you got your device tuned up! I experienced the same thing a few years back. It's amazing how better you will be able to exercise, Enjoy!

This gives me hope!! I am about to go for my first follow up and I am experiencing all the same symptoms as you did during exercise. I have my fingers crossed that they'll give me some adjustments that will allow me to workout like I used to. Thank you for sharing your experience because now I feel so much better.
