Let's take it a step at a time

Mine doesn't exactly hurt but can be uncomfortable at times....it gets tight under the skin. It only itches when it is about to "erupt"....the scar that is....4-6 times a month or so....and stays itchy until it calms down. I do not have a burning feeling. The stabbing feeling may be the nerves knitting back together....to me it felt like "ant bites"....sharp and quick (yes, I was a tomboy so I know what ant bites feel like).

My Doctors are not concerned about it so I don't even mention it to them anymore. I just observe and monitor it for myself.

I agree with Dizzy.....if you are allergic it will not matter where it is placed.

I hope you get some answers.

moving device

I had my pm (not ICD) implanted 7 1/2 months ago. I have pain everyday. I cannot touch it, and even clothes irritate it. But I also have internal pain, like someone is squeezing me from the inside. I talked to a supposedly renown EP. He said there is no guarantee moving it will reduce the pain. In fact it could be worse. But I don't think mine is as bad as yours, so you will, of course, be the one to decide. I hope you get relief and soon!

PM irritation

I've had my PM 9+ years, on occasion I get the itches right over my PM, it can be annoying as all get out when it happens. If I sleep wrong on my left side, which is the side my PM is located, I can wake up with a very sore area. Sore enough it hurts to have that side touched. My PM has moved considerably since it was implanted. I'm ready for a new battery, my Cardiologist is telling me he is going to "over sew" the new battery in place...I'm thinking that may not be too enjoyable. It makes me wonder, what is your doctor going to do if you are allergic to the PM?

Dizzy...just a note on your comment about school bus drivers. My husband drove a school bus for 17 years....AFTER being a Police officer for 27 years, 12 of those years he was the Police Chief in our small town. I made a comment to him similar to the one you made to cgomez. He drove high school students, what better bus could the school district ask a former Police Chief to drive. He said he could tune out the kids after the first few weeks...which I'm sure he, and all other school bus drivers learn to do, quickly. I sure couldn't deal with the little darlings!! But, I agree with you...anyone who can drive a school bus has to be commended!!

I wasn't very clear, sorry. I'm not advocating taking it out permanently.....obviously you need the device. Get the allergy tests done and see what they reveal first. If you are not allergic....

The stabbing feeling (part of the healing) should subside within the next couple of months since you are already 6 months out.

Talk to donb (the other don). :-)

If he doesn't come by, private message him. I believe he had an allergic reaction to one of his devices or leads as well as infections so he would be able to guide you.
