Hello has anyone had a lead wire break causing the defibrillator to malfunction causing multiple UNNECESSARY shocks? I had this happen last year and had to have emergency surgery with lead extractions I was defibrillated seven times before they could get it shut off. I have a Medtronic device.

Got any questions? Be glad to offer help.

Hey thanks for the comment!! I heard my alarm go off that morning immediately called dr they asked me to send a care link VIA phone line. I did I immediately called them back and they advised me to immediately go to the ER just the short 3 mile ambulance ride I was defibrillated 7 times!! We knew it was a broken lead wire but ambulance are not able to use a magnet or don't have one. ER dr was AWFUL and refused to use the magnet "unless I got shocked again"!!!! Medtronic was waiting and shutoff my device!! I am wanting to see if anyone else this has happened to has the same device and to see if it will possibly be recalled!! IT WAS AWFUL I seriously thought I was gonna die!!!! I do have PTSD!!!!! I pray for a recall so this does not happen to anyone else!!! I still have flash backs!!!!!

Yes, I have a friend who had this happen. A few people on this site have also had this happen. I think the people in the ER could have put a magnet on it, but they would have to know that it was not happening for therapy henc an EKG delay. So very sorry this happened to you. I sure hope this doesn't give you PTSD. Donb has explained this VERY well in a couple of his posts. You could probably find it in the search box in right upper corner. Best of luck to you, Bev
