Out of Breath All of the time

Hi All,
I had my PM implanted 7/29/13 due to lymes carditis with complete heart block. It is true, I was bitten by a tic and it caused my heart block. Anyway, I feel like I am always out of breath and I wanted to know if anyone else has this issue. It is very uncomfortable and makes me anxious but then just having a PM is making me anxious. I am having trouble learning to live with my new friend. If I could not feel out of breath all the time I think things would be better but still, after 13 weeks with a PM I thought I would be breathing better.
Many thanks,
HK

`Ask to be seen, make sure nothing else isn't going on or maybe your settings need adjusted.

The shortness of breath can come at any time. For example, I am a physical therapist and I often take blood presures. Sometimes when I do this and listen for a heartbeat I suddenly feel out of breath to the point where I feel like i need to sit down. I expect to be winded when I exert myself but not with simple tasks

that you're out of breath "all the time". Is it truly ALL the time as in when sitting down, or is it when you're moving around? Do you have any other medical conditions that could cause SOB? If it's all the time I would assume you've talked to your Dr about it? If not, you should.

If you get SOB only when doing things like walking or running, or working out, what are those things that trigger it? Do you know your PM settings? If not get a copy of the interrogation report. It will have all sorts of details on what mode your PM is set to and what the HR limits are. You may need to have a setting adjusted. Very simple for them to tweak a setting.

I got my PM in June and at first I got SOB when I was exerting more walking up hills. They upped my UTR and I've been fine since then.

I was pretting anxious about all this too, as my total AV block came on very fast and before I knew it I got my little buddy. For me learning how it worked and how reliable it is helped reduce the anxiety. That and finding this site and all the people with similar conditions who are doing fine.

We all heal at different rates and deal with stress differently, but I think one common help is to know that you're not in this alone.
