(Followup to previous post.)
4 weeks post implant, 55yr old male: I finally got my PM max bpm moved up to 180 bpm, despite my dr.'s reluctance. It was followed up with a stress test which showed no heart problems (we went up to 175 or so).
My initial max setting was 130. This I hit with just moderate exercise. Since my PM tracks atrial beats, when the atria exceeded 130 the PM would only pace every other beat -- effectively inducing 2:1 heart block. It took some persuading to get the limit raised to just 150. Even 150 was easy to hit, but with the current 180 limit I feel no PM induced exercise limitation (e.g. doing a 6 minutes mile pace).
Thanks to all in this forum who wrote that a setting of 180 is possible, and who affirmed that, with only conduction problems, there needn't be any exercise limitations post implant (despite dr.'s initial assertions such as "you shouldn't be exercising at that level anyway".)

Glad to hear all is well now.
Sounds like you educated your Doctor a little. It's great he was receptive.
Happy exercising,

great news!

So glad to hear you can exercise now!! Most drs don't have many paced patients who are active, as you've learned they often say no without thinking through if maybe they could say yes.
You know you're wired when...
You have an excuse for being a couch potato.

Yesterday was my first day mountain biking after my implant. I wiped out several times and everything is fine. There are sports after pacemakers!
Well done!

I am approaching 67 and had a very similar problem to you with my PM max set at 130 and going into 2:1 heart block during my workouts.
I saw my cardio ten days ago and he (also reluctantly) let the tech set my max rate to 150. This is working very well for me now as my average HR for my workout is ±102 with maximum reached ±115 (per my Polar FT7). Obviously previously the 115-120 was coming to close to the max set resulting in the 2:1 block.
Well done in getting your max settings increased to make working out a pleasure again.
