Had pacemaker placed Thursday (three days), and am at home in recovery now. My daughter has been caring for me 20 years now.
I am hard of hearing, and my daughter has fantastic hearing and can hear a tiny generating sound, is that something to be concerned about. It is the weekend and unable to call the doctor unless I go to the emergency and wait for hours til I am attended, and probably get an answer after a day, just to find out if it is normal to hear the pacemaker. It is a faint generating sound. Does anyone know right off if it may be of concern, or normal.

Good morning to you!
If my subtraction is correct, you have me by about 8 yrs. Congrats on that.
The real operable question is: "How do you feel?" If you feel OK or at least as well as you did the day you returned home from the hosp, you can wait till Mon to try to get the answer to your question. I, likewise, am hard of hearing, so could no more help you w/that part of your question.
I can, however, tell you that there is nothing mechanical inside your PM that should make an audible sound while it is working. To me, a "Generating sound" is one that is a "Whirring" or "Humming" type sound, as opposed to a "clicking" type. Some PM's do have the capability of generating a sound for an alert when certain events occur - like when they near the end of their battery life. You are nowhere near that point, however.
Perhaps some of the younger sprouts in here who can still hear will chime in & give you something more helpful.

Firstly I reiterate Don's comment. If you feel OK then don't worry and wait until you can contact your dr or the cardiac unit tomorrow.
As far as I'm concerned there is no sound from my PM, and cannot see why there should be as I believe there are no moving parts, just electronics.
