Hello all, I trust your doing well and making the most of life.
After my PM for symptomatic bradycardia down to 23, with pauses and Escape Capture Bigeminy was cancelled twice In October and then again in November, I have had an interesting time. Progressively worsening, I went from running ultras last feb, to getting out of breath climbing the stairs. Following a referral to an EP at the great St Thomas' , I have been diagnosed as sick sinus syndrome. 3 weeks ago I had an MRI which thankfully was free from any structural defects.
Today I underwent an EP study, which interestingly was normal, annoyingly I've been in sinus for a week. Shame it wasn't done when I was brady with pauses or in escape bigeminy, think the outcome would have been different; still can't win them all.
Following the EP study it was decided by the consultant to proceed with implantation, due to the clearly documented symptoms and now I am the proud father of a shiny dual lead Medtronic mri compatible PM.
I'm looking forward to living life to the full again and returning to my work as an ED Charge nurse, as well as doing ridiculous physical challenges just to prove a point lol.
A big big thankyou to our wonderful NHS for giving me my quality of life back, and to all the amazing nurses, Dr's and Allied Health Professionals who have been so kind caring and professional.
and thankyou for the lovely members of this great club who have given me hope and inspiration through the dark times.
