pacemaker scar infection

Got my third pacemaker in April. Had problems with it hurting and feeling sore from day 1. Never had issues with the other two. My leads are over 12 years old and were not replaced with the new pacemaker. In July started having drainage. Was given oral antibiotics for two weeks and other than that was told to put alcohol on wound and keep covered. Im allergic to iodine so cant use that. Three days ago the wound was gushing out blood and yellow puss. I have been to the doctor 14 times for this problem since the pacemaker was put in. Recently saw another dr. because mine was out of town. She prescribed a new antibiotic but the cost was $2,000 and I have no insurance. I had a fever yesterday(100.3) and today the incision site is still draining but very sore. Should I be worried that there is more than an infection going on?

I am surprised that they are not addressing this in a more timely fashion. I had an infection and they were on it instantly. Apparently the infection can travel down to your heart on the hardware and become catastrophic. I think the info given by angry sparrow is good advice. I'm sensing there is not a sense of urgency on the part of your docs. Can you go to er where they could give you an iv infusion to get the infection under control?
