wondering

HI........ maybe my post above is not clear.
I'm experiencing my BPM race from the 80 setting to to 98 to 80 within a minute or two. Is this normal. I was set at 80 with all three leads on after the implant. At my first adjustment (two and a half weeks ago) they set me at 70 and a 70 rest rate, also boosted my motion response rate and turned off my third lead. That was uncomfortable as I felt my heart beating most of the time. Today they adjusted me again - setting me back to the original settings yet kept me with a 70 rest rate. I'm wondering if it just takes time to readjust. I don't recall having gone to 98 at the original settings prior to adjustments. I hope someone can address this as I'm not used to obsessing like this and I'm feeling anxious when it goes that high. yet maybe it's not that high. help :) .

This does help and I'll do my best to stop obsessing every time I feel something happening in my chest. I woke this morning taking a deep breath and a HR of 102 and then it went back to 80 in a second or two. I was still and in a rest rate yet maybe dreaming. ?? :)
This site has been very helpful and eases my concerns. Thanks and my best to you. Lisa

Yes, if the PM is set at 60 as mine is, that is the resting rate, if I sit perfectly still it is 60. However if I move, get excited, yell at the dog, laugh,or move to any extent it will most likely go up, also obsessing will cause it to go up. If I get up and move the faster I move the higher it goes, going up or down stairs will bring up the hr. Without the PM your HR naturally goes up when you move get excited, angry, anxious, etc.Now that you have a PM you are waiting for something to happen so you hear and feel the beat, when you relax and stop waiting for it to beat you won't feel it, just as you didn't feel it before. Your little buddy sitting in your chest is not going to stop, it will sit there waitng for the beat, if it doesn't beat when it is supposed to-it sends the the impulse to beat. It will do that job faithly, Thats what its there for. I hope this helps. Jean

Your HR should increase upon movement/ exertion. That is how your heart worked before the PM too.

My lower tracking rate is set at 70 bpm and the upper tracking rate is set at 150 bpm. I often get to 150 when exercising and probably need my UTR increased again.

Like Jean said, you are more aware of your heartbeat now....that's only natural.

Not sure why they turned off your third lead....you may want to ask about that.

Thanks for your support. They turned my third lead on again when I went in this Monday due to being uncomfortable and sensitive to each and every beat. Plus being shout winded. At the time they turned if off, I was told it was because my heart was tracking on it's own and the lead may not be needed due to the fact that I was so sensitive . (also save on battery time)
I realize that my hr goes up with movement. yet my hr goes high up sitting and doing nothing - sometimes to 102. I'm set at 80 for lower and I think the upper is at 130 I am in 100% Afib all the time and maybe this is why I feel the hr go up - then in a few seconds it goes back to 80. This is also very uncomfortable..... Interesting though that prior to any adjustments I was not as sensitive to the change in rhythm while idle. It may just be getting used to a change in settings.
Thanks Grateful Heart. This is a fabulous site. I'm grateful to have the extra support and knowledge
