water aerobics

Does anyone do water aerobics after their PM? It can involve a lot of arm and overarm movements, plus working with weights in the water.

I don't do water aerobics but I do work out aggressively and do a lot of the same movements on dry land. Unless your pm is so close to your collarbone that excessive arm movement would pinch the leads, you should be able to do whatever you want after the healing period.

Wait a while

I'd wait 3 months before doing those exercises. You want to be sure the calcium and scar tissue have built up to hold the wires in place.....

SuperSale......Are you sure that's what your doctor told you? I'd ask again or a different doctor. I've never heard of a hot tub being a problem unless its the first few weeks after an implant, you don't want to submerge the wound that long. But once it's all healed...I can't think of any reason why you can't use it.....I would be very curious to hear the reasoning, please PM it to me if you find out.

Water aerobics are great!

I second what the others said - once your incision is healed up and your leads are scarred in place, water aerobics can be a great way to exercise. However, depending on why you got the PM, you might have to be careful. I have a PM for vasovagal syncope and intermittent 2nd/3rd degree heart block. If the water is too warm, it can dilate the blood vessels in the extremities and cause fainting. this has happened to me a few too many times, so I took a break from water aerobics for a while. This is the same reason why I completely avoid hot tubs.

In other words, having a PM shouldn't limit the feasibility of safely participating in a water aerobics class or safely using a hot tub. But your underlying condition may be more of a factor.

Saludos.

my cardio had me go 10 full weeks with not raising my left elbow higher than my left shoulder height. sure wasn't easy but they said after that time, I could resume swimming laps if I wanted to. I haven't yet , prob about 14 wks out now, but plan to!

I wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for pacemakers. I've had mine for 35+ years. I was fainting all of the time and had flat-lined also. I feel very blessed to live in this time of technology.
