Hi everyone, think I need some advise. I had my PM fitted on 5th August. Since then am still fainting ... have Idiopathic VT, Bradycardia and Vasovagal Syncope. Also have autoimmune arthritis. My question is around my feet and ankles, they have started swelling significantly, more so my left than right and Im concerned about fluid retention and if it is, why this may happen. Has this happened to anyone else? Should I see my GP? Any ideas would be really appreciated. I am still sleeping every afternoon and cant walk far but part of this is certainly the arthritis pain? Cheers

Definitely see your GP , swelling of the ankles can have loads of causes , often blood pressure drugs such as calcium antagonists are the cause ( the drug names end in " ipine" eg amlodipine , felodipine ) are you taking one of those ?
It is probably nothing to worry about but definitely see your Dr a.s.a.p. as blood clots can be the cause and need to be ruled out.
Best of luck
Ian

It is probably a little bit of fluid retention , cause unknown, which is harmless and many people live with it .Often reducing salt intake can help.
I'd still see your Dr though to rule out all the other stuff

Hi, don't know why you had your pacemaker placed but swelling or edema can be many causes from fluid retention due to leg vascular issues, to salt usage to heart failure. You need to have it checked out even if just for peace of mind.

Thanks Ian, I take Atenolol for my ticker ... no 'ine' in that one. I take a bunch of meds for the autoimmune arthritis as well but have been on them all for two years now so I guess they wouldnt be the culprit. With a clot would the swelling not be continuous? This comes and goes and happens in both feet/ankles but is definately worse on the left side. You're right I'm sure ... I will make an apoinment with my doctor on Monday. Thanks again.
