I am a new member who is a male 37 year old, 6FT 2 pacemaker recipient, who had his first one put in 4 weeks ago. I have a Medtronic dual chamber pacemaker installed for complete heart block.
I am asking questions here that have been asked hundreds of times but its reassuring to ask them myself as the whole experience has been pretty over whelming.
Today my pacemaker moved around and to the left towards the armpit. I slept on my arm and raised it in my sleep I think. Though i feel fine in myself, the angle of the wires are now sticking out under the incision scar which has created a point, plus the top of the pacemaker has left a step shape in the skin. I went to A&E and a pacing technician said it looked fine and its totally normal to move about over the first few weeks.
My questions are, is it normal to move?, will it stop moving?, the tech told me the muscle will grow around it, and its stinging since it started moving so will this quiet down?
Cosmetically I dont care about how it looks, but I would like to think i could start doing press ups, and lifting things in the future without the fear of it jumping around me.
Thanks in advance for all the advice. This is an excellent place to reassure new Pacemaker recipients.

I appreciate the comments. Its amazing how well advice from people in similar situations can make you feel. Alot of the feelings I have been getting post heart block have probably been psychological.
When it moved it was another thing though I suddenly learnt about my new condition that I did not know could happen, and does.
Thanks again for your time.

Mine moved for a little while the pocket they made for pacer will heal up and it will stay in place.
Good luck Brian

I am just grateful to God that I lived long enough to have my ICD put in. So many people are not as lucky as us; even though we sometimes don't feel lucky.

I got my last ICD in Oct.,'12. It has moved down about 6cm and tilted slightly to the side. The wire looks dreadful but they leave pleanty there. I just ignore anything as long as it WORKS alright. ...lol. Mine records every night so if anything were wrong they would have told me. Others will tell you their experiences and the truely knowlegable will advise you....I'm not "truely knowlegable" Just letting you know: I'm here and I have done the same, and still alive..Ha! Bev
