I'm getting more and more frustrated,, each time I complain and go back for a PM adjustment it gets worse. I finally got them to turn off rate response based on input from this site, although they were hesitant. According to feedback from Larz on my settings he feels they created a First Degree Heart Block and also questions why they extended my paced AV delay out to 300 ms
Can anyone comment that is a runner probably over 50 as I'm 68 and has a Medtronic PM with what you know of about your settings ,, much appreciated and any other related comments,,,,help, help, help ;(-

It's great that you want to strive for better results. Pacing in the right ventricle can cause heart problems according to several scientific studies, For example, in the MOST Study, published by Dr. Sweeney, pacing more than 90% of the time in the RV resulted in heart failure hospitalization in 10% of patients in a few months. So, if you have more than 40% paced ventricular beats, you may want to follow your ejection fraction or end diastolic volume over time so that you can watch for impending iatrogenic heart failure. If you do experience pacemaker caused heart failure, do not despair. See Karen's story - Google PacemakerPatientAdvocecy. Her heart healed itself after the pacemaker electrode was moved from the apex to the origin of the cardiac conduction system in the RV. The heart is just not designed to work properly when the cardiac conduction system is bypassed, That's why a long AV delay can be better - the conduction system is at least activated, in spite of ventricular filling compromise.
