I was diagnosed with Bradycardia three weeks ago. I have had my pacemaker now for 13 days. Are hot flashes and a migraine headache possible side effects from the anesthesia? Also, I'm experiencing some depression. Has anyone had these side effects?

A bit of the blues, a period of mourning, taking time to adjust- all normal! Depression is not, that's a medical condition that requires treatment. Most find that as they heal and feel good again that the adjust and the blues goes away.
Hot flashes and migraines are not normal. Are you still on pain meds? That can cause problems. Anesthesia is out of your system by now but it's possible they messed with your neck during the surgery, that can cause migraines.

Thanks everyone for you're helpful comments.
I refused pain meds because I don't like the way they make me feel.
What about increased appetite after getting the PM?

The pm won't directly affect appetite, no, but all sorts of things can be affected if your hr was very low for a long time, all the increased circulation. I noticed I didn't get cold, my mind got sharper, my eyesight even changed.

Side Effects of a Pacemaker?
by LitLady - 2014-07-14 08:07:15
What are the side effects you have encountered since you had the pacemaker installed? I immediately had trouble getting to sleep which continues almost 4 months out. Initially, I woke up every 2 hours for a couple of weeks. Now I am not tired at night and I wake up early every day. I am also have "hot flashes" and I am 68! I didn't even have hot flashes during menopause, but now...! After 3+ months I started have episodes of AFib. Also I have developed a nerve pain in my neck which may be completely unconnected but I don't know what I did to injure it. Please comment and share your experience.

I just want to share about the quality of life after my pacemaker, and hopefully increase awareness that lifestyles do not have to be drastically modified just because we are pacemaker recipients.
