Car keyless ignition

Hi,

Has anyone driven or been a passenger in a car with a keyless ignition?

I cannot find a definitive answer as to whether it has a negative effect on my PM. Can you operate or be in a car with keyless ignition? (as opposed to keyless entry)

Thank you,

Curzon

We took delivery of a Toyota Yaris Hybrid last year which is excellent (but not as economical as Toyota claims) and does not cause me any probs - however, when discussing which model to select the sales guy advised against the top of range as it only came with keyless ignition !! This may have changed but suggest you check with main dealer and car handbook.

I ride shotgun in one all the time. No issues with my PM

A lot of misinformation

There's a lot of misinformation out there about electromagnetic pulses and the PM. If you look on this forum you'll see some posts about EM pulses. So..

Microwave ovens are OK. Operating short wave radio is OK. Arc welding is OK. Heating pads are OK even when laid on top of the PM. (I forgot and did that once - no problem.) I talked with an electrician who has a PM, went back to work, no problem. He does stay away from 440 and 880 volt work but most home electricians don't get around that much voltage anyway.

Power plants are out. Any large magnetic fields. Working with military radar is out. Probably standing in front of a yagi antenna would be out. Some medical heating equipment is out.

So pretty much you can lead a normal life around electromagnetic fields and electricity.

Hang in there. Life gets better!

I had an issue

shortly after my implant nine weeks ago I felt faint and exhausted after driving our Prius for an hour and a half with the key bob in my pants pocket. Someone here suggested anxiety and it could have very well been just that. I have not had the opportunity to make that drive again since but I have also stopped carrying the key bob in my pants pocket and have no issues driving the Prius the five mile commute to my office.

There are a few cars with keyless ignition that have pm warnings in the owners manual. I know of one person who felt bad in one car, no one else, so it's not unheard of but it's rare. I have been in 4 or 5 different cars now, both as passenger and driver, with no issues.
