:-) Hi Karen,

Karen, 99% of the time I am even aware of having a pacemaker in my left shoulder. I actually am only reminded when I sleep wrong or when someone points it out to me with a question about what happened to me. I have so many different scars for playing hard that i have to ask which scar are you asking about lol. Seriously, I am so busy living my life (and thank God) I still have one, that I don't think about my PM, my scars, or when my next appointment is. BTY the cardiologist just called to remind me about my yearly exam. I have a reminder in my phone so I won't forget it.
So, in closing please know that this time will pass and you quite possibly will become as blase as I have become about my PM & scars. Also know that I struggled with my own issues for a long time before I finally grew to understand that this is who I am now and be happy with myself.

Just thought I would add my 2 cents lol,I don't tink you ever forget you have a PM but I have had mine since 2005 and now it os kinda like I think about it but its a good feeling kinda thankful that i have this mini computer helping me stay alive and i think most people would feel the same. Good luck Valerie
It's like wearing a hat!!

Most times I forget its there...if I bump into something or a strap is too tight yeah I remember. Tightness will go away
If you are sore I would back off a bit-- throwing the ball for the dog and gardening might be a bit too strenuous right now. Take it easier and see if you're still sore in the morn
Still kinda weird

Karen,
I got my pm in March. I still notice it and sometimes just touch out the outline of it. Lately though I have started not even think about it. Went kayaking and felt just fine afterwards. (Though my butt hurt from sitting too much. They aught to cushion those seats.)
Enjoy the gardening the soreness will go away.
Tony
Embrace it !

It is still early for you, it takes time, but the sooner you can embrace your PM the easier it gets.
Mine sticks out of my skin, gets very tight at times and sometimes pushes very close to my underarm. My scar has strange eruptions about 5-7 times a month and that has been happening for 2 years now, since a lead revision.
Just the other day I reached across my body with my left arm and SQUEEZED my ICD in the process. It hurt and reminded me it's there. But ....it also hurts when I bump my toe on the leg of the bed!! That probably hurts more...LOL.
When I am in the gym, certain exercises remind me it's there. For me, it's just my "new normal". But ....I am always grateful for it and it sure beats the alternative !!
The soreness should subside, if not, speak with your Doc. In time you will forget it is there but then there will be gentle and not so gentle reminders.
It does get better,
Grateful Heart

Yesterday was my first day mountain biking after my implant. I wiped out several times and everything is fine. There are sports after pacemakers!

You can use your arm however you want now, though when you get sore you might want to back off a bit. Just keep moving! That's the best thing you can do for the tightness.
I forget mine is there. It took me about a year to really adjust and stop thinking about it all the time. That was 1994. I can go weeks now and not think about it, it's just a part of me.
