Tig welding.

I am a 25 year welder and fabricator. I was warned to stay away from welding. I didn't and tried to weld well over a hundred amps on aluminum. DO NOT TRY IT!!! I kept my arms as far away from me as I could. When I struck an arc it was like being hit with paddles. This little stunt resulted in immediate reprogramming of my PM. You cannot do industrial welding with a device. Especially TIG! My pacemaker has taken my career away, and I was damn good too...

...you proved him correct.

"Some people learn by reading or listening to others. Other people have to Pee on the electric fence."

Guess we know what group you fit into.

Billie - don't feel bad - you may have just saved someone grief. Also, it's people like you who discover new worlds.

Good Grief - 100 Amps DC would generate a fearsome magnetic field.

Hmmmm! Jasper GA. Know where the Riverbend Gun Club is in Dawson CTY? I live next door to it.

I was welding at 200 amps High frequency AC on aluminum.
If I could only get disability people to understand that I can no longer perform in my career field...???

Yes I know where that is. We used to ride ATVs around their property.

200 Amps is...

...a mite more than "well over 100 Amps"!

No wonder you needed a reprogram. Do you know what frequency it was. Gets high enough & it will radiate. But still the mag field from that much current will cause you grief..

I experienced 30 amps at 240 V when my electric water heater was on & the cable passed w/in 3-4 inches of my PM. I thought it had just quit on me. Darned near fell off the ladder I was climbing.

Ah - you've been to the RBGC. Then you drove right past our house. Been here since 1997. Etchers Lane is our private road name. On the left just before you drive off the asphalt & onto the gravel.

Stay away from anything high voltage. Let all the people you work with that you have a device and if anything happens to get you away from machinery or even outside.

Hi just had pacemaker fitted on 15th so 3 days ago . I'm a boilermaker by trade ,I know the doctors said no welding but as a male and instructions don't normally go together thought id look on here to find a way to carry on welding .After reading the warnings about magnets don't think I will be using the magdrill either . Well from the information you have posted looks like I'm marking out and doing setouts or might have to take a rigging course and do that as not overfond of working inside.
