Hello, I am a brand new member. I think I just needlessly went on and on with chat when I really wanted to just post.:-)...I am 60 yrs. old and have had a single pacemaker since 12/2011. My concern is that during the day I can feel my pacemaker doing it's thing, at times the duration is longer than at other times. I ALWAYS can feel it at the same time every evening when my satellite monitor does it's test and reading, At first I thought that I had programmed myself to believe I felt it at that time. It lasts for approx. a long minute. I can feel a constant flipflopping chest and throat inner pounding, Like having a hand mixer spinning in my throat. My tech proved to me that I wasn't imagining it. I could tell him everytime that he would do what ever he was doing ( very uncomfortable). He has adjusted it lower but says he is afraid to lower it any more. I always had a rate of approx. 40 before my pm.

Self-check

Hi Anitra,
that does not sound like a pacemaker syndrome, but rather like the pacemaker performing its regular self-checks: it tests lead impedance, some also check the AV-delay, threshold etc - same tests that are done when you go for a check at the cardio's office. If that's the case, the monitor doesn't play a role, the pacemaker does this check regardless of whether you have a monitor or not.
Is your single-chamber pacemaker pacing the right atrium or the ventricle? Pacemaker syndrome is more common in VVI-pacing, so ventricular pacing only. However, this would definitely not happen at exactly the same time everyday, and it's also rather unlikely that it lasts just a minute.

My monitor is supposed to be within a 6 foot range every night...I hardly sleep at night and lose track of time so I am hardly ever in the bedroom where it is located but I can feel it several rooms away, then look at my watch and sure enough it is the same time as all the others. For some strange weird reason I even felt it when it hasn't been plugged in or recently when we had a 3 day power outtage...Why?
