Just curious.

I had my pacemaker put in like 6 months ago and today I have been a lot of pain and tightness in the area. Does this mean there is something wrong or is it normal to have pain for this long? I just am curious to know what I should expect.

Could be

That could definitely be a possibility. Were you cleared by your doctor? The extra movement could be preventing the site from healing properly. But congrats on the lifestyle changes! Maybe try stationary cycling to keep your arms ouf of it for a while ;) Definitely talk to your doctor about it.

Is this why?

Well I have recently starting working out to lose weight and become healthier. So I have been moving it more then I use to because it made me nervous, could that be why?

Happy 6 month anniversary! Sometimes pain and tightness can occur if you have not been moving the area. The muscles sort of become "lazy" during the recovery period. Do you have a decent range of motion in that arm?

...................I think that the pains that are felt post-implant are sometimes good old fashioned scar pain or internal adhesions.

I have 3 incisions in my left shoulder and 1 in my right ..where my PM currently resides.

My right PM area..7 weeks since 'box' replant is totally comfortable.

Wheras my left shoulder is the one where I feel , now and again,..discomfort,..'pulling' and the odd twinge.

This view does nothing to dismiss the comments above...I reckon that ,with so many medical things we all like the idea of ..'Getting Back To Normal', and it does not always go that way, or rather,..a new 'Normal' is established..

Pardon my Brit Sarcasm,..but all the twinges, pain and tightness will always be a whole lot better that the alternative.......as in....a permanent subterranean future

Graham,..6 months in many people are still assimilating the whole New PM thing on so many levels. There are millions out there who get the old PM,..and (?)..luckily have no problems, I personally know two people who have never given a seconds thought to the little beast.

I hope that more members contribute to your topic

Meanwhile,..welcome to PM Club

Hi Graham,

I still have occasional pain and especailly tightness around my site, I notice this more after a long day of a lot of physical activity.

I do a lot of jogging and like to do weight 3x a week.

Like Tattoo Man mentioned, I think it's our body's way of mending back together.

Hope you're feeling better soon.
