recent device

My father received the device that is MRI compatible. His procedure was done about 1 week and a half ago. His complications were shortness of breath, chest pains and lots of swelling. They put him on lasix and remedied the swelling. Since shedding the fluid he the breathing issues have ceased. He and the rest of us have noticed some memory issues. Is this temporary?

New PM

Hello,

My first question is how old is your father? I'll be 84 in may and am on my second PM. I got the last one in 2009. I have some memory loss which has became most noticeable within the last year. I can't say I have ever associated any memory loss with getting a PM. However, that is not to say your father's is not associated with his surgery as we all can respond differently to different experiences in our life.

With all that said I'll now say if getting the PM is the cause of his memory loss I would expect it to be short term. Otherwise he has maybe reached the age where some dementia is starting to happen. At least that is what the dr told me when I asked about my memory loss.

I would say don't sweat it right now and if it is a concern have him see the dr.

Good luck to your father,

Smitty

Just saw the Texas part of your name. Ever hear of Salado?

Hi, I'm a lot younger than your dad but one of the side effects of the drug I am on can be some short term memory loss. Could this be the problem with your dad? I would expect it to be the meds rather than the pm.
