Possible Vein damage from Weightlifting

Had my pacemaker tuned up in October, so now I'm full-time paced. Decided to upgrade my weightlifting, with DR approval, and that was going great, felt wonderful, but had a weird thing happen recently that I would love to get some advice on.
After a lifting session, I noticed what looked like a spray of blood under my skin on my back near my shoulder. Most likely, I blew a surface vein. The weight I was lifting wasn't extreme, only 50#, but I did lift to muscle failure.
I've been feeling a little woosy and tired since, with a little bit of chest burn, but my heart has been pacing normally. Has anyone had any experience with vein damage and is this something I should be worried about?

October might seem a long time ago and you are keen and wanting to get back to former self..Totally Reasonable..
Look at your weights programme and go back a few steps. Dont be a hero,..go back and , maybe learn a bit about what weights are about..do steady and well within your limits stuff.
I used to do mental Bench Presses..try 1000 reps agaings the clock..try 130kg x 1000 in sub 30 mins..I had real trouble with my tailor. Not good for the lower back.
I am still here and still pushing the old carcase to the limits.

I did get it checked, and it's a torn trapezius muscle.
Apparently, this can cause heart attack symptoms. Who knew.
Definitely looking to tone down my lifting and make sure I have correct stretching and hydration before I start back again.

It's so easy to blame everything on the pm! Glad you got it checked out and it's not cardiac. Fingers crossed it heals quickly so you can get back at it.

If you tear a muscle it's your fault because your work outs are wrong. Either you work with too much weight, two many repeats or don't warm up. Weight training is a science your body is indifferent to the PM if you abuse your PM you'll pay. . A PM is serious if you injure yourself and don't listen to your doctor then you could easily suffer serious consequences. I have been lifting weights for 22 yrs and active all my life in sports. It's different now I will go slow and just work for shape. Habits are hard to break. Good Luck

Leeroy, I don't think I blamed anyone but myself for this. I didn't blame the PM either if you look at my posts, but was simply concerned that I damaged the PM based on how I felt. I do appreciate everyone's feedback. Great site.
And, yes, this is totally my fault for not stretching and being fully hydrated, as I should have. I should have known better. My leads tend to rub against my veins because of the weird angle they had to install the leads, so not being ready to lift contributed to this problem.
Again, that's not what my DR said. He just looks at the impedance as being OK and said get back to the gym. I, on the other hand, I'm having a time not getting dizzy after a few hours of work. the cost of being stupid, I guess.

Yea, my light weight training is different now, compared to my 1st pacemaker. 2nd Pacemaker is smaller and it seems tighter in my chest, not much fat there, its everywhere else ! lol

Thanks for your response. I am only 7wks since my PM was placed. I have worked out for years could manage to press my weight. Have had no work-out since Dec 6th 2012. I don't know why I am so cautious. Can you suggest what work-outs would best suit and how much weight to left. Can you recommend best exercises to return to. Thanks for advice. Lee

I wouldn't worry much about blowing a surface vein if you went to failure, but the tiredness and being woozy should be checked out.
