Hi, I'm a new member and due to be admitted for "BI-VENTRICULAR ICD" insertion on Sunday the 24th. Feb 2013. I Had a Major MI in Aug 1998 and after several MI's I had "Triple By- pass surgery" in 2003. Since then I've had Seven Stents inserted. That's a brief history of my HF. I am the sole carer fotr my partner who has COPD Stage2. I am hoping that as a result of this proceedure I will have a bit more energy and quality of life for myself and my partner. Would like someone willing to share their experience with me.
Thx Ferenc

I have a Bi-V ICD. Not sure why you need the ICD, but in my case it has helped me tremendously. You should find you will have more energy since your heart will be beating in sync. It will make a big difference. Attitude is very important too. Learn all you can from this site, ask questions. There are some very knowledgeable and helpful members on this site.
Good luck with your surgery, you should feel much better.

Thank you for your messages. As I mentioned, I am new at this. I had an "Echo" recently which showed further deteroiration in my LV systolic funtion with an ejection function now of 25-30%. A mural thrombus was also evident at the apex which was akinetic. I had got especially over the last 3-4 mths, more noticably breathless and fatigued. I especially have been finding it more difficult with the shopping etc. As I mentioned my partner is disabled and on min 16 hrs Oxygen therapy. I am her sole carer. I am very grateful for your comments, as you have lifted me with your shared experience.
Thanks again : Ferenc

I had a Bi Ventricular ICD place in December. It has made a world of difference. I am able to walk again without losing my breath. My heart rate and blood pressure are better. Better blood flow so no more adema.
