Cardiac sarcoidosis

Hello all,

This is a follow up to my post about not being able to exercise without feeling sick and throwing up etc. This past Monday my Husband and I walked to our mailbox which has a slight hill to climb. I got dizzy and had to be helped back home, started the old sick, throw-up thing. Set a interrogation of my pacer to doctors and they called saying I had 18 episodes of V_Tach in the last month up to 180's yet below my VT zone. Was told to go to local ER. Tried to get it done with and used adenosine 6 mg and 12 mg, not help and started on amiodarone 150 mg which did get it back after 4 hours to 65 hr. No beds in my state of NH on a cardio unit. That was my luck, was sent almost 2 hours to Boston's Brigham and Women's Hospital. This is a great place, all the doctors are so caring. The many different residents, medical students and doctors decided to give me a Pet scan for sarcoidosis. I had not heard of this before, they felt it explained my EF of 33%, and rapid progression of fefects in both the conducting system and myocardium. The findings showed consistent with cardiac sarcoid, so I was stated ton prednison 60 mg along with bactrim, omeprazole, vit D/Ca. So what is this? Sarcoidosis is a disorder that causes timey nodules of inflamed tissue to develop in the body's organs. The cause is not known, may related to environment, and organisms, including viruses and bacteria. Are they any other people out there with this diagnoses? I will be followed up a clinic in Boston and hope this will lead to a improvement in my over all health.

Hello DMJ.

Sarcoidosis is also found more frequently in those of Dutch heritage. Because I live in a highly Dutch area of Michigan, there are a number of people here with sarcoidosis.

I have also read posts from others in our club that have it. Use the SEARCH bar (gray/white at top right of page) to find others in your situation.

So glad you're getting good treatment at Brigham & Women's.
