exercise

It seems when I exercise or over excert myself I get light headed, dizzy and nausea. I have had two times this last week which resulted in me feeling pain in my chest and throwing up. I'm due to see my doctor next month, I have been waiting for my medical to start so I can get a echo etc. Has anyone else gotten so sick from exercise or doing too much like snow shoveling? I do have a ICD so I figure it would shock me if I was really having a attack.

I have had several incidents like you are describing. They have all occurred when I tried to do too much. Typically you start with a little shortness of breath, then that burning feeling in your chest, then the nausea.

Talked to my Cardiologist about this last week. I have been having some V-Tach issues lately and they changed some meds. I asked him how much I could exercise and if I should continue to work through the SOB and chest discomfort. He advised absolutely not!! That is your heart's way of telling you it is not functioning properly and if you keep it up it will get even!!!

Thank you for replying

I also seem to be getting worse with exercise, yet they tell us to be active. This last time I was so sick for over 8 hours until I could sleep it off. I do feel the Medtronic tech is more helpful than the doctor and she has done some adjustments that have helped some. I tell my doctor I know my body and how I felt before the pacemaker and now, they don't seem to understand how it controls us. I have 5+ years left on this device, once it get to eol I'm not going to get the ICD. I have had it for 3 years now and it hasn't gone off. My pacemaker has paced me out of all the V-tach and A-Frib so far. I was a nurse for many years and know the doctors don't like being told their job, but bottom line we know our body's better than they do.

....this is a very interesting question.....

Myself when I go out for a run,...I very often go through a 'Nauseous Phase' at about a mile into the run,...I 'pull up' and spend up to a minute gagging and holding my knees..I NEVER throw up...after the hiatus I just carry on running...my running club mates always worry over me and often I send them on before me...

I do not, as yet,. have an answer to this ...my suspicion is a Vaso Vagal Nerve connection...if you scroll down here to my Posting...BEAT IT GRANTHAM...during that meeting , during the Q & A I asked my Cardiologist, Andrew Houghton about this and he suggested that I come along for a Treadmill Test to see if there was anything that could be adjusted in my PM setting...

I'll keep PMC informed

Best wishes DMJ

It may be the first time we've felt a normal heart rhythm in a long time, so of course it seems too fast and too strong.
