Hi People;
Been a while since I`ve been back to you all and have had pacer in for about three months or so now.
Am trying to get my head around some issues with the rythum or rate control thing, Have had a couple more adjustment done since last on and was starting to feel ok and have another appointment to see The Cardioligist in a couple of months and am to see pacemaker clinic for check up next week.
I guess what bothers me is I am still getting a bit of flutter some days and also a bit of lightheaded ness on the odd occassion;
Also cant understand with my pacer as told it would regulate and fix the slow and irregular heartbeats but still sometimes when not feeling right completely I notice when I take my pulse it is slow and does skip a beat or two which concerns me cause as said thought that is pacers job to fix.
Unfortunately I still get fast A/F sometimes which I put up with I suppose which I guess is up for debate, but am sick of being a guinea pig with meds like Isoptin, flecainide etc, etc because they all have made me feel like crap what with halucinations, nightmares, insomnia and nausea just to name some I would rather go without quite frankly and I guess am walking a bit of a tightrope guys in that regard but dont know which way to go anymore.
Have been back to my training like swimming etc and mild gym work, sometimes I`m ok after and sometimes have a bit of fast A/F for a little while until I come down.
Blood pressure, do any of you guys out there have issues that way too? ever since operation my BP has been all over the shop, sometimes high sometimes low, one day it`ll be 98/75 next it will be 140/87, freaks me out cause never had blood pressure issues ever, was always around 120/60-65 pretty constantly so hard to understand and deal with.... do any of you have any answers or ideas, would appreciate any feed back, thank you for your time everyone, much appreciated.
Take care, John B.

Thank you for your feedback which just recieved when I got home just now.
Will take on what you have suggested and speak further with pacer techs when I see them soon, also will bring up Meds again with the Dr re BP and horrible side effects of the meds they have tried me on thus far.
Would really like to have a day without feeling puffed sometimes or light headed, some days I`m fine I`ll admit, but on average still getting palps sometimes accompanied with being puffed out a bit, driving me nuts... today was what I am like sometimes as earlier today went to the Dr for another issue and said could he take my BP ( wasnt my regular GP) as he`s away, anyway took my BP and wouldnt you know it , was perfect, 123/68 pulse I think was 69-70. maybe I`m possesed!! by who I dont know but wish they`d take a flying leap or something!!
Anyway thanks again for your help and advice. have a good evening. Johnb
Takes time

Hi there I've had my PM since early Oct, this was installed after several collapses.
I'm on beta blockers and aspirin, and also have days like yours when you just don't feel right, also have had several instances of light headedness
Due to being on the tablets I have come to the decision that I should not drink alcohol anymore, as this seems to make the problems worse.
I'm still learning what I can and can't do and i'm told by other members of the site it does take time.
Keep your chin up, and try not to let it get you down

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.
flutter

The meds are probably affecting your bp. Only check it when you don't feel right. Ditto the pulse. Otherwise you will make yourself crazy.
The pm can't control flutter, all it can do is add beats when you go too slow and watch if you go too fast.
How much too low is your pulse when you count it? If it's just a few beats, don't worry about it. The pm doesn't work in beats per minute but in fractions of a second. To keep it simple, let's say you're set at a min of 60, that's one beat per second. If your heart goes a second without beating, the pm steps in. Over the course of a minute, it may or may not work out to exactly 60. And the flutter may mean you are having small beats that would show up on an ekg but not a manual count.
